Kevin’s vast experience in the telecommunications, banking and payment environment has been accumulated over the past 42 years, first of all within South Africa with ‘South African Posts and Telecommunications’ (Telkom today) and ‘First National Bank’ establishing and managing wide area networks for the Bank.

Kevin moved to Celtel (African MNO) now Airtel and setup ISP facilities for Celtel in Zambia, Republic of Congo ‘Brazzaville’ Malawi and acquired Infocom for Celtel in Uganda. He has been in the mobile payment space since 2002 and was one of the founder members who established Celpay Zambia (Subsidiary of Celtel) in 2002 and subsequently another in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2004.

Kevin has also helped establish a start-up mobile payment business in South Africa with a very selective clientele for a company called Mobux and from there onwards has been instrumental in developing business strategies and building mobile payment businesses in Zimbabwe as well as Uganda before moving on to Mahindra Comviva in December 2012 as VP of Mobile financial solutions (Africa) which lead onto joining a new Comviva venture namely, TerraPay

Kevin was one of the key resources in establishing the unique ‘TerraPay business remittance model’, with the position of Regional Director, he successfully applied for remittance licenses in South Africa (ADLA) and Botswana (EPS) and established B-B remittance networks in the SADC and Anglo West African region and has also been instrumental in providing input and assisting the South African Bankers Association through the Bill and Melinda foundation with regards to the low-value X-border payments project called “Transactions Cleared on an Immediate Basis” (TCIB) in the SADC region.

Today Kevin is one of the key resources in establishing the unique main office situated in Johannesburg as Octobuz Consulting.
